Electric Vehicle Invention

About

The present invention ‘Electric Energy Recovery Transmission with Dual-power Source‘ is very different from conventional planetary transmission in operation principles and structure. For example, traditional transmission has a power input shaft and a power output shaft.

Under the same battery capacity, conventional all-electric vehicles with the same model which can drive 400 kilometers could drive 450 kilometers through braking energy recovery, control system transmission, upgrading, etc. This is already a relatively high technology index.

If our invention technology is applied to conventional all-electric vehicles, the all-electric vehicles can efficiently save energy in the running process under the batteries’ capacity unchanged. The all-electric vehicles with the same model which drive 400 kilometers will drive 600~800 kilometers.

Because the present invention has two power input shafts, it needs two motors to act on the transmission at the same time. Then the transmission designed by the present invention has two operating phenomena:

(1) The output shaft is zero speed, when both motors are at a set rotation speed (for example, 1000r/min).

(2) The rotating speed of one of two motors is at a set constant speed(1000r/min). The other one is an inverter motor that could adjust speed by variable frequency within a set rotational speed range (for example, 100r/min~5000r/min). The output shaft of the transmission could speed up or slow down (decelerate) continuously, and can also transmit to zero speed smoothly, which realizes smooth conversion of clockwise and counterclockwise rotation of the output shaft.

When the present invention achieves the above two operating rules, the internal transmission parts for the transmission have the following performances.

When the power of both motors continuously acts inside the gearbox and the output shaft
rotates in a positive direction or reverse direction and the speed is zero, all gears and power
shafts in the gearbox are still running at high speed. Moreover, the rotational direction always
stays unchanged.

All gears in the gearbox are always engaged and all moving parts never disengage. There is no clutch, separation mechanism, sliding mechanism, and braking device inside the gearbox.

Until now, our invention is the only transmission in the world that achieves zero output shaft
speed, while having continuous input power.

Because the present invention ‘Electric Energy Recovery Transmission with Dual-power Source’
has the above two transmission features, so there are three obvious functions:

[a] When both motors are at the set speed, the output shaft is zero speed although the motors and
the gears in the gearbox rotate at high speed.
[b] Theoretically speaking, there is no torque generated on the output shaft. But in the practical testing, there is still a relatively small torque.
[c] In practical application, the transmission and motors will not stop working even if the end of the output shaft for the transmission gearbox by the present invention counters strong resistance. When all-electric vehicles stand from rest to start, there is no load to start the motors.

Our testing data about a 20KW transmission engineering prototype shows that the maximum output torque is about 1000N.M at a low rotating speed area of clockwise and counterclockwise for the output shaft. For a 30KW permanent magnet synchronous motor which is utilized for conventional all-electric vehicles, the maximum torque is only 180N.M at the low speed. Therefore, the transmission gearbox designed by the present invention has strong torque, which can cause new all-electric vehicles to have unlimited developmental space.

The working status for both motors is as below, while the transmission designed by our invention technology is outputting work. If a motor inputs power, the other motor will generate electricity as a generator. Through testing a 20KW transmission engineering prototype by a testing organization, the testing data shows that the generating power of the other motor is about 2.89KW at high speed and the maximum generating power is about 15.63KW at low speed when a motor inputs power with a rated power of 20KW. The generated electricity could be input into the power system for reusing through the electric energy recovery device. As for the power system, the electric quantity supplied by batteries to the transmission becomes supplementary electricity under working conditions, and its output electric quantity will be greatly reduced. As a result, the present invention can greatly save the electric quantity output from batteries, thereby greatly extending driving mileage for all-electric vehicles.

The present invention has been applied for international patents in the USA, Japan, Europe, South Korea, China, and some countries. The international application date is August 24th, 2018, We already got a Chinese patent, and other patents are pending.

Since the invention has been applied, we have made four engineering prototypes. We tested the latest 30KW transmission engineering prototype at Shanghai Electrical Apparatus Research Institute from October 12th through 13th in 2021. The testing data shows that the prototype has greater torque and the function to save electricity greatly compared with motors that are used for conventional all-electric vehicles. This is an Epoch-making technology revolution in the field of electric vehicles.

Because the patents in some countries are pending, the technology contents and index are
confidential at present. If anyone or manufacturers want to know more, we could provide some
parts of technology information and test images, and videos for the invention after signing an NDA. If
you are interested in it; we could share testing data and analysis reports after signing up invention protection agreement.
